Russian authorities have detained 11 suspects in connection with a brutal Crocus City Hall attack. Four of the arrested, are suspected to be directly involved in the incident were arrested near Russia’s western border with Ukraine. As per the writing of this article, the death toll climbed to 133 and more than 100 others injured.

The four suspected perpetrators of the attack were sported in a white Renault spotted by authorities in the Bryansk region, southwest of Moscow. The occupants ignored orders to pull over, resulting in a car chase and shootout. The culprits were apprehended thereafter.

Attackers opened fire and used flammable liquid to set fire to the hall. The investigative committee stated that victims died from gunshot wounds and smoke inhalation after a fire ravaged the 6,000-seat stadium on Friday.

Russian officials reported that security has been reinforced at Moscow’s airports, railway terminals, and the metro system. All large events, and theaters plus museums in the area, were ordered shut down for the weekend.

While addressing the nation on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said all the perpetrators of the attack had all been apprehended after attempting to “escape” to Ukraine, echoing earlier assertions by the country’s security services that Ukraine might be behind the attack.
