Deputy President William Ruto told mourners he had talked to Kenei about the meeting Echesa had at his office. This was before the sergeant was found murdered at his home.
According to the DP, upon arriving at his office on that fateful Monday, two days after being absent, he asked to have a brief meeting with the head of security and the guard in charge of escort.
DP RUTO AND KENEI BRIEFING BEFORE MURDER
The DP in his speech added that he called the two in and asked what had transpired. Kenei asked to come with 3 of his colleagues who were present the day Echesa is supposedly accused to have carried out the firearm scam.
Ruto told mourners, Kenei and his team told him what had happened and backed up their story with CCTV evidence.
According to the DP, Kenei knew Echesa. The late sergeant received a call from the former sports CS informing him of a meeting he was to have with his colleagues at the DP’s office.
Because he had called to place an appointment, when he and his colleagues arrived, Kenei ushered them into the waiting room. This is according to the conversation the DP had with Kenei.
DCI’S EVIL PLOT AGAINST THE DP
The deputy president also added that the Director of Criminal Investigation’s office was being used to taint his image.
He noted that the DCI was not doing his work as police laws required him to. Instead, he was busy commenting on political matters.
The DP also accused the DCI and his officers of being used to undermine and taint his name and that of his office.
Deputy President William Ruto also noted that his office was deeply saddened by the death of Kenei. “He was one of the best assets we had at the office,” added DP Ruto
Concluding his speech, the DP promised to help bring the perpetrators of Kenei’s murder to book. He promised that Kenei’s family would find justice and justice would prevail.
