Raila was responding to leaders at the burial who asked him to support Matiang’i and name him the most suitable candidate for the 2022 elections.

Raila, however, asked the leaders to be patient and allow Matiang’i serve Kenyans. The former prime minister also asked the leaders not to rush their 2022 campaigns but instead serve Kenyans and make sure they received the best services.

He also added that early politics would derail the countries development and urged all those involved to stop.

“Matiang’i is my son and I know he deserves the best. It is not yet time to start politicking and that is why we are against early political statements that will derail our country’s development agenda. Let him undertake his duties”
